We recommend bringing a notebook, pen, and comfortable clothing suitable for indoor and outdoor activities, as there may be interactive sessions with animals. You also need to bring a packed lunch and water and mud proof outer wear. The course activities are outside in all weathers.

Our Diploma programme consists of eight modules, each with guided learning hours ranging from 6 to 18 hours. You’ll participate in on-site training sessions at a therapy farm, engage in virtual learning activities, complete assignments, and develop a portfolio to showcase your learning.
The amount of time spent on-site varies for each module, ranging from one to two days. Additionally, there are virtual components and individual tutor meetings to support your learning outside of on-site sessions. Please see page 3 for further details on this
To enrol in the Diploma programme, you must have attended the Introduction to Animal Assisted Therapy and Intervention workshop with Elysian, demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English (equivalent to IELTS 6.5), be over 21 years old, have significant and relevant experience in the field of health. social care, education or a related field, and possess emotional resilience to handle the demands of the course. Applicants can apply and will be assessed according to these criteria.
Assessment methods include a Reflective Learning Journal, case study reports, assignments, and quisses. These assessments are internally evaluated by our facilitators and graded on a pass/fail basis.
Upon successful completion of the Diploma, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to facilitate Animal-Assisted Interventions in various settings such as health, social care, or education. You can also further develop your professional practice or pursue employment opportunities in the field of AAI.
If you cannot make one of the module dates, this is not a problem, you can join that module when it is repeated. We will aim to have at least two sets of each module per year, so students have some flexibility, should they not be able to make one of the modules.
